Actually the DJ was quite fab, I managed to get hold of a new nifty Korg Kaossilator for AU$200, and it is indeed sweet. No way of saving anything on it, but it is a great little synth complete with an appregator. A nifty invention - even though the thing looks a little like a toy. I will start looking like the crazy japanese DJ in the videos already. The best thing is that this wont appear here in Aus for a while, so there's the uniqueness factor as well. These will probably sell for like $400 here as well, which is fucking shit. Fuck the prices here are so high for everything. A $1.20 for a coke over there - $2.60 here - what a fucking joke. I am finding it difficult to buy things here now, because I now know what people are paying elsewhere.
Also managed to pick up a Virtua Stick High Grade for the PS3 for AU$65. It's still in the plastic, but I will rip it out soon and have a good go at it.
I also managed to get hold of some other music hardware while I was over there. Its made over there, so it makes sense. This also means that it was all fuckloads cheaper than what it goes for here. I mean like heaps cheaper - like almost half price. Its rediculous. I can't believe chucking stuff on a plane let alone a boat and carting it over here warrants double the price. particularly with the exchange rate only 5 cents less per dollar on average compared to the yen.
I got a FA-66 audio interface because the ol' UA-100g is not supported by OS X and Windows anymore, and let me tell you, Japan was the best fucking place to buy it. Powered by FireWire, plugs straight into the mac with no issues, and now I finally have a decent audio box with which to monitor with. I also got one of those PCR-M1 keyboards (powered also by the bus) to help in laying down some tunes. Bloody awesome.
Naturally I hit Super Potato both in Den Den Town and Akiba, although I didnt get as much shit as I thought I'd walk out with. I had a chance to get a Sega Mega Jet but their credit card facility wasnt working on the day I came back to buy it, so I had to do without. But is all good. They were selling NeoGeo pockets for AU$5 apiece, I dont know how they do it.
